State Senator James Sanders Jr said he will not leave his children with a fallen name so he is sticking to his principles and suing a couple for defamation of character.
The case stems from a several-year federal investigation, in which Marion Moses and Malisa Rivera, leaders of an agricultural group named Culinary Kids, Culinary arts, alleged Sanders wanted a kickback for public funding. The couple got former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara and the feds involved.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A lawyer’s tweet suggesting the GOP’s nominee for lieutenant governor could be a “spokesmodel for either Cream of Wheat, or Uncle Ben’s Rice” created controversy on Election Day for Democrats.
The lawyer, Andrew Barovick, later apologized and deleted the tweet. But first he accused the Republicans of faux outrage.
The original tweet, posted at 12:12 a.m. ET Tuesday said: “In light of election loss, @SheriffMoss mulling offers to be new spokesmodel for either Cream of Wheat, or Uncle Ben’s Rice.”

Village proceeds with cumulative voting remedy to voting rights violation

It’s now official; there will be no Port Chester village election on Mar. 18. In fact, there will be no election for trustee of the village until the court orders it. After United States District Judge Stephen C. Robinson’s decision in the voting rights case against the village was released last Tuesday, ruling that the village’s at-large voting system violates Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and discriminates against Hispanics, there was the expectation that the election would eventually be cancelled, although the 56-page opinion did not specifically address it.
